Molecular pathology
This research line stems from the collaboration of the Department of Pathology of the San Juan de Dios hospital and the CIHATA as a product of the need to implement diagnostic tools of molecular biology in pathology. The pursued goal is to understand the molecular bases of diseases; the usefulness of new diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive markers in disease management; and the treatment main lines.
With this research line, the CIHATA is committed to developing and making available molecular diagnostic tools for the study of different pathologies to professionals in the health area. A wide variety of highly sensitive and specific molecular tests are offered to determine alterations in the sequences or changes in the expression levels of crucial genes with a pathological effect. Our action is based on a multidisciplinary and integrated panel of specialists and techniques to improve the diagnostic approach, the identification of prognostic markers, and key therapeutic targets for the development of personalized medicine.
